Analysing Irish Schools for a more efficient design approach.
Syntaxlab helps to analyse and design better retrofits for Irish Schools.
Irish secondary schools are consistently underperforming spatially — poor circulation, isolated social spaces, and layouts that work against how students actually move and interact. No accessible tool existed to analyse and benchmark layouts against proven high-performing designs.
(Research)
I began by researching great secondary schools in the Northern Hemisphere. To understand the design spatial, I used syntax theory to map and compare their designs against one another.
(Experiment)
Testing iterations of Syntaxlab's designs and verifying them against my own findings helped to develop criticality within the tools itself.
