Syntaxlab helps to analyse and design better retrofits for Irish Schools.
Irish secondary schools are consistently underperforming spatially with confined circulation and isolated social spaces. No accessible tool existed to analyse and benchmark layouts against proven high-performing designs.
(Research)
I studied high performing schools across Northern Europe including Kastelli and Hellerup. I used Space Syntax theory to map room connectivity, social integration, and permeability. Those benchmarks became the scoring framework inside SyntaxLab.
(Experiment)
I ran Irish school floor plans through the tool, scoring them against the benchmark data until outputs matched real world design observations.
